Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will I receive my tax bill?

A: Tax bills are typically mailed the end of September. Contact us at (606) 845-4701, option 1 if you haven’t received yours.

Q: What if I didn’t receive my tax bill?

A: You are responsible for paying taxes even if you didn’t receive a bill. Call (606) 845-4701, option 1 and we can provide your balance and payment information. You can also look up your tax information online using the Fleming County Tax Record Database here.

Q: What happens if I don’t pay by April 15?

A: At the close of business on April 15, all unpaid tax bills are turned over to the Fleming County Clerk for delinquent collections per KRS 134.122.

Q: I just bought/sold property. Who pays the taxes?

A: Tax liability follows property ownership. Contact our office to discuss proration or transfer of tax responsibility based on your closing date.

Q: Can I dispute my tax assessment?

A: Assessment questions go to the Fleming County Property Valuation Administrator (PVA), not our office. We collect taxes based on assessed values the PVA provides.

Q: What if my mortgage company pays my taxes?

A: If taxes are paid through escrow, your mortgage company should handle payment. However, you remain ultimately responsible for ensuring taxes are paid on time.

Delinquent Tax Collection

Collection Process

At the close of business on April 15, all unpaid tax bills are turned over to the Fleming County Clerk for delinquent collection procedures as required by KRS 134.122.
