The Fleming County Sheriff's Office, SGT Mullins made an arrest this morning in connection with multiple stolen vehicles and a side by side in the Mt. Gilead area. Two vehicles and the side by side were recovered. Please check your belongings and let us know if you've had anything stolen.
We urge everyone to lock and secure any valuables from your vehicle.
On Tuesday July 25th, Deputy Patrick arrested Rickey Rhoton, of Sunset Rd in Hillsboro for Trafficking a Controllled Substance 1st Deg (<2 grams Methamphetamine) following a drug investigation. The Fleming County Sheriffs Office received multiple tips of drug activity involving Mr Rhoton at his address.
The Fleming County Sheriffs Office is dedicated to protecting our communities. If you or someone you know suffers from addiction, there are options available for treatment. But understand, addiction is not an excuse for someone to sell drugs. The Fleming County Sheriffs Office will continue to inform the public of those who are accused of selling drugs in our community.

On March 11th, 2024, Mr. Minton a entered guilty plea to the following Fleming County charges:

Prison – 5 years – Consecutive to Mason County Case
TICS, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE (>= 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
Prison – 5 years – Consecutive to Mason County Case
DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS
Jail – 14 Days
Mr. Minton also entered a guilty plea to several Mason County charges, involving the Mason County Detention Center and a Fleming County Deputy Jailer.

On Wednesday July 19th, 2023, the Fleming County Sheriffs Office conducted a drug investigation on Euclid Ave in Ewing. Mason Minton of Nicholas County was arrested and charged with several Trafficking Controlled Substances charges (Heroin, Fentanyl and Methamphetamine).
Mason Minton received additional charges at the Mason County Detention Center for Escape 1st degree and Assault 3rd Degree – Corrections Officer.
Fentanyl and fentanyl analogues are the deadliest drugs and most addictive drugs our nation has ever seen. They are powerful synthetic opioids that are similar to morphine but 50 to 100 times more potent. The research findings presented in the 2020 KY Overdose Fatality Report, state “more than 1,964 Kentuckians died from drug overdoses in 2020, a 49% increase in drug overdose deaths compared with the year prior.” The report further states, in “cases autopsied by the Kentucky Office of the Medical Examiner and toxicology reports submitted by Kentucky coroners, the increase in the death toll was driven mostly by a rise in opioid abuse, fentanyl, and fentanyl analogues, which were found in 1,292 cases, accounting for approximately 71% of all overdose deaths for the year.” Dealers frequently mix fentanyl with other drugs, such as heroin, pills, cocaine, methamphetamine, and MDMA, which results in the cheaper availability of drugs. This practice is extremely risky for users who may not realize that this cheap addiction may be stronger than they are accustomed to, often leading to an overdose.
Unfortunately, many families have been impacted by the drug epidemic, and have experienced the devastation of overdoses and resulting deaths. Law enforcement agencies work diligently to control the impact of the epidemic in our communities and partner with local treatment centers available through ASAP programs and Casey Laws to provide much-needed services to individuals and families in need.
If you are a person selling fentanyl, you will be our priority and we will use every resource we have to find and arrest you. If you are a person who needs help in fighting addiction, you can anonymously contact our office and we will connect you with the resources to help you.

The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 1998 Honda Shadow that was stolen from the Foxport area of Fleming County around 3pm, July 18th, 2023. Anyone with information may contact the Fleming County Sheriffs Office at 606-845-4701. Deputy Welch is investigating the theft.

Fleming County Golf Scramble raised over $3000 for the KY Sheriffs Association.
The Fleming County Sheriff Tim Smith, Deputy Bradley McIntyre along with KSP Trooper Smith and the property owners located a stolen truck on Junction Rd. The truck was stolen on June 26th from Rowan County on Sharkey Rd. The property owner observed the truck as it was being stolen and followed the stolen truck into Fleming County. The driver of the stolen vehicle fired a pistol at the property owner who was driving behind him. The property owner returned fire. The Rowan County Sheriffs Office is investigating the initial theft.
The Fleming County Sheriffs Office will be filing additional charges, pending the conclusion of the investigation into the actions that carried over into Fleming County.
We’ve received several reports of thefts occurring over the last week in the Mt Carmel/Dalesburg area. We highly recommend removing valuables from your vehicle and keeping your vehicle(s) locked at night.
Anyone in the community with cameras, we are asking you to please review your footage and report anything suspicious to the Sheriffs Office.
