The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public of ongoing efforts to keep our roadways safe. Our office continues to take proactive steps to protect the motoring public, including conducting traffic safety checkpoints and focusing patrol efforts in areas known for traffic complaints or unsafe driving behavior.

These roadside safety checkpoints are intended to promote safe driving and serve as a deterrent to those who choose to disregard Kentucky traffic laws.

During these checkpoints, deputies will be checking for signs of impaired driving, equipment violations, valid driver’s licenses, and proper vehicle registration and insurance. Any additional violations or public safety concerns encountered will also be addressed appropriately.

These efforts allow our office to focus attention on traffic safety concerns here in Fleming County, helping to ensure safer travel for all who use our roads.

To the Editor,

The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping our community safe, and a major part of that mission is combating the flow of illegal drugs in our county. Over the past several months, my deputies and I have conducted multiple drug investigations, leading to several arrests for drug trafficking and possession. These arrests are the result of diligent investigative work, community tips, and our ongoing effort to hold drug dealers accountable.

Illegal drugs destroy lives, fuel crime, and threaten the safety of our families. We want the people of Fleming County to know that we will not tolerate this kind of activity in our community. Our office is dedicated to enforcing the law fairly and aggressively to remove dangerous substances from our streets.

Transparency and accountability remain our top priorities. We believe the public has the right to know what is happening in their community, and we will continue to provide updates on significant law enforcement actions. We encourage residents to report suspicious activity and work alongside us to make Fleming County a safer place for everyone.

I want to commend the hardworking deputies of the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office for their dedication and professionalism in these cases. Their commitment to public safety is unwavering, and I am proud of their efforts to protect our community.

We will continue this fight, and we appreciate the community’s ongoing support. Together, we can stand against crime and make a lasting difference.

KY 111 (Hillsboro Road) is now open following the semi-truck rollover earlier this evening.

We want to thank all of the emergency crews who responded so quickly and worked together to get the roadway cleared. We are fortunate to have some of the best first responders and road crews around, and we appreciate all they do for our community.

We are aware of a social media post circulating regarding an altercation at Ridgeway Park Apartments. While the post makes reference to the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office, we want to clarify the facts.

This incident occurred within the City of Flemingsburg, and the Flemingsburg Police Department is the primary investigating agency. Deputies from the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist when requested. The photograph being shared shows one of our deputies providing that assistance, which included taking a subject into custody.

We respect and support the public’s rights to free speech, peaceful protest, and to advocate for better living conditions. We also do not condone violence of any kind, and allegations of assault are taken seriously.

Because this is an ongoing investigation by the Flemingsburg Police Department, all further inquiries should be directed to their office. Our role in this matter was to provide assistance to their officers, and we will continue to support our law enforcement partners whenever needed.

The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the rights and safety of all members of our community.

On July 25, 2025, the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office arrested Aiden Sayre following an investigation led by Sheriff Tim Smith into offenses involving the sexual exploitation of juveniles.

On July 25, 2025, the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office arrested Aiden Sayre following an investigation led by Sheriff Tim Smith into offenses involving the sexual exploitation of juveniles.

Sayre has been charged with the following:

Procuring or Promoting the Use of a Minor by Electronic Means

Distributing Obscene Material to Minors

Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor (Over 12 but under 18)

Use of a Minor Under 16 in a Sexual Performance

Due to the nature of the charges and to protect the privacy and safety of the juvenile victims, no further details regarding their identities or involvement will be released.

This arrest underscores our agency’s commitment to aggressively investigating and prosecuting crimes involving the exploitation of minors.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
