On December 5th, 2024 at approximately 1038 Hours Chief Deputy Rob Conn was on routine patrol on KY 559 when he observed a 2005 Buick Lesabre, operated by a Kara King of Wallingford KY, pass him in a no passing zone. Chief Deputy Conn activated his emergency equipment in order to signal King to pull over but she failed to do so and accelerated in an attempt to elude him and continued north on KY 559 at speeds of over 85 MPH. Chief Deputy Conn was joined in the pursuit by Deputy James Welch (K9 Rex) and Deputy Dustin Cooper. King continued to travel north on KY 559 at high speeds and in an extremely reckless manner. The pursuit continued through Wallingford and King turned on Tharp Cemetery Road and then turned onto a dead end private driveway. The pursuit continued off the roadway and into a private drive, around a house, and several outbuildings, before King drove through a fence, and continued off road through a field. Once King came to the end of the field and into a tree line, she jumped out of the car and attempted to run on foot. With the assistance of K9 Rex, who tracked King through the woods and led Deputies to Kings location, where she was arrested without further incident.
King was charged with Fleeing and Evading, Wanton Endangerment, and numerous other traffic offenses, and was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the KY State Police.
All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
