ARREST MADE FOLLOWING STABBING INVESTIGATION
On July 11, 2026, at approximately 11:00 p.m., law enforcement responded to a report of a stabbing victim in Flemingsburg.
During the initial investigation, it was determined that Joseph Howell allegedly stabbed another individual multiple times. The victim was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.
Following the investigation, Joseph Howell was located earlier today and was arrested without incident by Sheriff Tim Smith. He was lodged in the Mason County Detention Center.
This case remains under active investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
Sheriff Tim Smith stated:
“This marks the second violent incident our community has experienced this weekend, following the recent shooting investigation. The safety and security of the citizens of Fleming County remain our highest priority. We will continue working alongside our law enforcement partners to thoroughly investigate violent crimes, hold offenders accountable, and do everything possible to keep our community safe.”
All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
