On August 31st, 2023, the Fleming County Sheriffs Office provided assistance to the Kentucky State Police on a theft investigation into stolen property from Falmouth Ky.

On August 31st, 2023, the Fleming County Sheriffs Office provided assistance to the Kentucky State Police on a theft investigation into stolen property from Falmouth Ky. Sheriff Smith, Deputy McIntyre and Deputy Burns assisted KSP Trooper Tyler Smith with conducting a search warrant at the residence of Dan Haines of 770 Hall Rd of Flemingsburg. KSP and the Sheriffs Office located nearly $100,000 worth of stolen property, a stolen firearm as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Patrick Evans, Joshua Mason, Kayla Blevins and Christina Porter were all charged with receiving stolen property.

During the investigation, Sheriff Smith was able to identify copper wiring that had recently been stolen straight from the pole from numerous spots across the Eastern part of Fleming County. Over the last two weeks, on multiple occasions, Windstream has reported the theft of wire from their poles on Stockton Rd and Watson Rd. Several hundred feet of wiring had been cut, with a lot of cable and phone service being disrupted. Sheriff Smith was able to locate the stolen wire at the residence on Hall Rd.

All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Let’s welcome our newest member back to the Fleming County Sheriffs Office. Rob Conn retired from the Kentucky State Police after 22 years of service, with the last 7 as a Sergeant with the KSP Drug Enforcement/Special Investigation Unit. Once he retired from KSP, he served as a School Resource Officer for the Fleming County Schools and as a Codes Enforcement Officer with the Flemingsburg Police Dept. Deputy Conn is a member of the Elizaville Christian Church, where he serves as a deacon. He is married to his wife, Christi and they have two children, Zeke and Jesse.

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky.

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (July 31, 2023) – On July 30, 2023, Kentucky State Police (KSP), Post 8, Morehead was contacted by the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office for assistance with a death investigation. The incident occurred in the community of Ewing in Fleming County.

With assistance from Fleming County Sheriff’s Office, KSP investigators were notified that the death appears to be from a drug overdose. Travis Gene Collins, 36 years of age from Ewing, KY was pronounced deceased by Fleming County Coroner Winston Grannis. Through the investigation, KSP investigators obtained information that Marcus Harrison, 37 years of age from Ewing, KY provided Mr. Collins with the drugs. Investigators obtained a search warrant on Marcus Harrison’s residence and located several items. Marcus Harrison was charged with Manslaughter 2nd, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Mr. Harrison is lodged in the Mason County Detention Center. KSP Morehead was assisted by Fleming County Sheriff’s Office and Fleming County Coroner’s Office. This incident remains under investigation by KSP Morehead.

The Fleming County Sheriff's Office, SGT Mullins made an arrest this morning in connection with multiple stolen vehicles and a side by side in the Mt. Gilead area. Two vehicles and the side by side were recovered. Please check your belongings and let us know if you've had anything stolen.
