The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office is proud to partner with Operation UNITE, Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Fleming County Schools, the Fleming County Health Department, and the Flemingsburg Police Department to bring the “Give Me a Reason” program to our community.

This free event will be held Thursday, March 19th at 5:30 p.m. at Simons Middle School and is designed to give parents and caregivers practical tools to help prevent youth drug use.

Through this program, parents can receive FREE saliva-based at-home drug test kits and learn how they can be used as a simple prevention tool to help start important conversations with their children.

Johnathan Gay, Commonwealth’s Attorney, shared: “I’m excited to partner with the Sheriff and others to offer this accountability tool! We need to do all we can to keep young people away from drugs!”

Dr. Whitney Shannon Wilson, Director of Safe Schools for Fleming County Schools and Principal of Simons Middle School, added: “Fleming County Schools and Simons Middle School are proud to partner with Operation UNITE to bring high-quality drug prevention programming to our students and the Fleming County community. Through this partnership, we are working together to educate, support, and empower our young people to make healthy, positive choices.”

On February 23, 2026, at approximately 12:28 p.m., the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal collision on Beechtree Pike in Fleming County.

Both the operator and passenger of the vehicle were transported by Fleming County EMS to Fleming County Hospital. As a result of the crash, the operator, AJ Farrow, 19, of Flemingsburg, was pronounced deceased at Fleming County Hospital. The passenger was later transported by ambulance to UK for additional treatment.

We were assisted at the scene by the Flemingsburg Fire Department and Fleming County EMS.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Farrow during this difficult time.

The collision remains under investigation by the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Fleming County EMS along with The Fleming County Health Department and the Kentucky Blood Center ask you to join us for "The Battle of The Responders" Blood Drive. All you have to do is show up, donate blood in honor of your favorite First Responder Group, (Fire Department, Police, Sheriff, EMS, Electric Company, Road Department Etc.). This year there will be a plaque given to the responders with the most blood donated. We want to make this a yearly event so get out and show support for your responders and help someone in need of blood!!

On January 27, 2026, Fleming County Dispatch received a report of a three-vehicle collision on Ewing Road, with one driver attempting to leave the scene.

Deputy Dustin Cooper and Chief Deputy Rob Conn responded to the scene. Prior to their arrival, a vehicle driven by Zaccary Lang had left the scene. The vehicle was located a short distance away by off-duty Kentucky State Police Detective J. Wagner after it ran off the roadway and became stuck.

Fleming County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dustin Cooper arrested Zaccary Lang of Buchanan Road. Lang was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, leaving the scene of an accident, wanton endangerment 2nd degree, expired registration, and no insurance.

No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation by Chief Deputy Rob Conn.

The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to stay alert and drive safely, especially during changing road conditions. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious or dangerous activity to dispatch.

Additionally, individuals struggling with substance use are encouraged to seek help and resources, as assistance is available.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
