The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public of ongoing efforts to keep our roadways safe.
The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public of ongoing efforts to keep our roadways safe. Our office continues to take proactive steps to protect the motoring public, including conducting traffic safety checkpoints and focusing patrol efforts in areas known for traffic complaints or unsafe driving behavior.
These roadside safety checkpoints are intended to promote safe driving and serve as a deterrent to those who choose to disregard Kentucky traffic laws.
During these checkpoints, deputies will be checking for signs of impaired driving, equipment violations, valid driver’s licenses, and proper vehicle registration and insurance. Any additional violations or public safety concerns encountered will also be addressed appropriately.
These efforts allow our office to focus attention on traffic safety concerns here in Fleming County, helping to ensure safer travel for all who use our roads.

🚨 Congratulations to Sgt. Logan Mullins🚨
Sgt. Mullins has successfully completed the Academy of Police Supervision (APS) — a rigorous 3-week leadership course totaling 122 hours of advanced training for first-line supervisors.
APS is the first step in Kentucky's formal Leadership Development Program for sergeants and frontline leaders. This course challenges students through in-depth reading, writing, and scenario-based exercises, all designed to enhance their ability to lead with integrity, confidence, and professionalism.
During the program, Sgt. Mullins received training in:
✅ Situational leadership
✅ Constitutional and administrative law
✅ Ethical decision-making
✅ Emotional and social intelligence
✅ Change management and emotional survival
✅ Public speaking and effective supervision

SAFETY CONCERN – HILLSBORO INCIDENT
May 14, 2025
Earlier today, the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Kentucky State Police, responded to Hillsboro in reference to a safety concern involving a wanted individual. Sheriff Tim Smith, Deputy James Welch, and KSP Trooper Vanhoose responded to the scene.
The individual, who had an active full extradition warrant, attempted to flee and evade law enforcement. After a brief pursuit, the subject was apprehended on Souder Avenue without further incident.
We want to emphasize that this situation did not involve Hillsboro Elementary School, and at no time were students or staff in danger. We appreciate the cooperation of the community and our strong working relationship with the Kentucky State Police in maintaining public safety.
