We are aware of a social media post circulating regarding an altercation at Ridgeway Park Apartments. While the post makes reference to the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office, we want to clarify the facts.
This incident occurred within the City of Flemingsburg, and the Flemingsburg Police Department is the primary investigating agency. Deputies from the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist when requested. The photograph being shared shows one of our deputies providing that assistance, which included taking a subject into custody.
We respect and support the public’s rights to free speech, peaceful protest, and to advocate for better living conditions. We also do not condone violence of any kind, and allegations of assault are taken seriously.
Because this is an ongoing investigation by the Flemingsburg Police Department, all further inquiries should be directed to their office. Our role in this matter was to provide assistance to their officers, and we will continue to support our law enforcement partners whenever needed.
