This morning around 4am, the Fleming County Sheriffs office and dispatch received several calls in reference to multiple vehicles being broken into in the area of Planck road. This is a friendly reminder to everyone please lock your vehicles at night or if you are away from your vehicles for any extended amounts of time. Don’t leave or avoid leaving valuable belongings in the vehicle .
Great job to both the Panthers and Lady Panthers basketball teams last night.

We would like to welcome Deputy James Welch back to the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Welch is no stranger to Fleming County as he started his law enforcement career with the Fleming County S.O. back in 2019. Deputy Welch also serves his community as a member of the KYARNG.

Fleming County Sheriff’s Office Press Release
On Friday February 3rd, 2023 at approximately 20:40 hours. Deputy Harber and Deputy Parker were dispatched to Goddard Rd in reference to a shooting that occurred. Sheriff Smith and Special Deputy Doyle responded to the scene as well.
A 32 year old male was treated on scene by Fleming County EMS for a non-life threatening gun shot wound. He was transported to Fleming County Hospital by ambulance. He was then airlifted to UK Hospital.
72 year old Terry Johnson was arrested and charged with Assault 1st.
All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The case is under investigation.

The following is a press release issued by the Fleming County School System regarding an incident that occurred yesterday, January 25, 2023. This incident remains under investigation by school administration and the Flemingsburg Police Department.
Dear Fleming Countians,
Yesterday, the administration at Fleming County High School investigated a rumor regarding a possible threat. This threat was proven to be false, after multiple interviews and searches. This morning, the school administration, based on a tip from a student, identified one of the students where the origin of the rumor started yesterday. Additionally, other students were also found to be involved in spreading this rumor. The school has been following the student handbook, board policy, and state law regarding investigating a school threat and the student discipline requirements. We will fully prosecute to the extent of the law for making false reports. With that being said, at no time have students been in danger.
To be clear, we encourage all students to notify school officials about threats immediately. However, when a student purposefully and knowingly spreads a rumor with the intent of creating a disruption of the school process or creating alarm within the school or community, we take that very seriously and it is against the law to do so.
We want to thank students who notified school officials yesterday and again this morning about this possible, but proven to be false, threat. Yesterday and, again this morning, the school SROs were involved throughout the entire process. To be clear, it is the policy of Fleming County Schools to investigate all threats or rumors of threats at any school or school function. Again, thank you to the students who came forward with the necessary information.
