In that letter, I share my thoughts on transparency, integrity, and the responsibility I have as your sheriff to lead with honesty and accountability. I encourage everyone to take a moment to read it.

Drug Arrest Made Following Search Warrant in Hillsboro, KY
On April 10, 2025, the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in Hillsboro, Kentucky, in a joint operation with the Kentucky State Police. Sheriff Tim Smith, along with Deputy Welch, K9 Rex and Deputy Cooper were assisted on scene by KSP Trooper Tyler Smith and Trooper Leo Leal during the investigation.
As a result of the search, Shane Johnson and Trista Jandro were taken into custody by the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office. Both individuals were charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (more than 2 grams of Methamphetamine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Illegal narcotics and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking were recovered at the scene.
Drug addiction continues to be a serious issue that affects individuals, families, and communities across the Commonwealth. The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to taking a firm stance against illegal drug activity while also recognizing the importance of treatment and recovery for those struggling with substance abuse.
We appreciate the continued support and cooperation of the public as we work to keep our communities safe.
The charges against the individuals mentioned are accusations only. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Monday, April 7, 2025, Deputy Dustin Cooper conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of Gary Wolfenbarger. As a result of the investigation, Wolfenbarger was charged with the following offenses:
• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine)
• Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Possession of Marijuana
During the investigation, deputies located and seized a total of approximately 18 grams of methamphetamine.
Deputy Cooper was assisted at the scene by Deputy James Welch, K9 Rex, and KSP Trooper Vanhoose.
Illegal drugs continue to have a deadly and devastating effect on our community. They destroy lives, tear families apart, and fuel violence. If you are selling drugs in Fleming County, you better be prepared to face the consequences. We will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute those who choose to poison our neighborhoods.
Sheriff Tim Smith stated, “We are fully committed to protecting the citizens of Fleming County. We will not tolerate drug trafficking, and those who choose to bring this poison into our community will be held accountable. If you’re struggling with addiction, please seek help. Your life matters, and there is a path to recovery.”

**Fugitive Friday**
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on the whereabouts of Justin Hogan, who pleaded guilty after being charged with trafficking in Fentanyl and Methamphetamine in the Mays Lick area.
The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the effort to locate Hogan, in coordination with Commonwealth’s Attorney Johnathan Gay.

The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Rocky Muse and Tammy Stacy, both of Flemingsburg, following indictments issued in connection to a drug investigation related to an overdose incident.
Muse and Stacy were taken into custody without incident after a Fleming County Grand Jury returned indictments for drug-related offenses. The investigation was conducted by the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from other agencies.
Both individuals were lodged in the Mason County Detention Center.
The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to combating drug-related crimes in our community and encourages anyone with information on illegal drug activity to contact our office.
It is important to note that an indictment is not a conviction, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff Tim Smith and the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office remain committed to reducing crime and improving public safety in our community. As part of this effort, an ongoing drug investigation led by Chief Deputy Rob Conn and SGT Logan Mullins has resulted in the arrest of Macy Zornes of Flemingsburg, who has been charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree, 1st Offense.
“Our office is dedicated to getting drug dealers off our streets and behind bars,” said Sheriff Tim Smith. “By working together with our law enforcement partners, we are making it clear that illegal drug activity will not be tolerated in Fleming County. These partnerships strengthen our ability to investigate, arrest, and prosecute those who threaten the safety of our citizens.”
