Fleming County Sheriff’s Office Public Alert: Scam Caller
We have received reports of a scam caller impersonating a police officer. The caller identifies himself as Sgt. Bruce Button of the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office and is calling from the number 606-767-0482.
Please be aware that this is a scam. Do not provide any personal information, make payments, or engage with the caller in any way.
If you receive a call from this number or any suspicious call claiming to be from our office, please hang up immediately and report it to the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office at our official number. Stay vigilant and protect yourself from scams.
The Fleming County Sheriff's Office would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the support we received towards the annual "Shop with a Cop" event. Without your kind and thoughtful donations this wonderful holiday program wouldn't be the fantastic success it is. Year after year our generous community steps forward and provides the necessary funding to allow us the opportunity of sharing the spirit of Christmas with dozens of deserving children. In this season of giving you have shown just why our community is so very special and we are proud to be a part of it!
Chief Deputy Conn has been out working hard trying not to be on top of the list. SGT Mullins (1st) and Sheriff Smith (close second) are currently leading in donations. We will be taking donations until Friday 12/13. We will be participating in our second shop with a cop event next week.
All proceeds will go directly to giving Fleming County kids a better Christmas.
On December 5th, 2024 at approximately 1038 Hours Chief Deputy Rob Conn was on routine patrol on KY 559 when he observed a 2005 Buick Lesabre, operated by a Kara King of Wallingford KY, pass him in a no passing zone. Chief Deputy Conn activated his emergency equipment in order to signal King to pull over but she failed to do so and accelerated in an attempt to elude him and continued north on KY 559 at speeds of over 85 MPH. Chief Deputy Conn was joined in the pursuit by Deputy James Welch (K9 Rex) and Deputy Dustin Cooper. King continued to travel north on KY 559 at high speeds and in an extremely reckless manner. The pursuit continued through Wallingford and King turned on Tharp Cemetery Road and then turned onto a dead end private driveway. The pursuit continued off the roadway and into a private drive, around a house, and several outbuildings, before King drove through a fence, and continued off road through a field. Once King came to the end of the field and into a tree line, she jumped out of the car and attempted to run on foot. With the assistance of K9 Rex, who tracked King through the woods and led Deputies to Kings location, where she was arrested without further incident.
King was charged with Fleeing and Evading, Wanton Endangerment, and numerous other traffic offenses, and was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the KY State Police.
All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Fleming County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for Hunter Hall, who’s 11 years old. He went missing today 12/5/24, around 3pm today. Last seen wearing a black coat and green and black pants.

It is once again the season of giving!
Please help us by supporting our annual "Shop with a Cop" program which enables local law enforcement officers to take dozens of children out for an evening of Christmas shopping and holiday celebration.
As an incentive to encourage your participation in our "Shop with a Cop" fundraiser we are going to try something new this year. Santa is famous for his long wiskers and so are several of our officers, and while we wouldn't want to shave Santa's wiskers off it might be fun to shave the wiskers off one of our officers! To determine which one it will be simply make a donation to our "Shop with a Cop" program in the name of the officer you would most like to see lose his wiskers. Whomever has the most donated in his name by December 13th will lose his wiskers on the following Monday to a sharp razor and hopefully steady hand! You may place your vote by bringing in your donation to the sheriffs office.

Christmas Toys and Food Drive for North Carolina Flood Victims!
Help us fill the truck, we are accepting donations for new toys, canned foods and other non-perishables. Donations can be dropped off at Cheaps Chevrolet, Fleming County Sheriff‘s office, and Flemingsburg City Hall.
